Food Pantry
Our Mission Statement

The members of the First United Methodist Church in Beggs have a vision that all God’s children have what they need to thrive in Beggs, Oklahoma. We, the people of the United Methodist Church, therefore, commit ourselves and our love in Christ to serve the people of Beggs with low/no cost clothing, housewares, and emergency food items to people in our community who find themselves in need. All proceeds will continue Christ’s Mission to usher in the Kingdom of God here and now. May God bless the people of Beggs!

Our Food Pantry started serving the community in January 2024.

In the short span of time since then, our church food bank has experienced remarkable growth—growth not only in size, but in spirit, vision, and impact. What began as a modest outreach with a few shelves of canned goods and a handful of faithful volunteers has steadily become a vital ministry of hope in our community.

In those early days, we served a small number of families each month, relying primarily on congregational donations and simple distribution days. Even then, however, the foundation was strong: a shared belief that Christ calls us to feed the hungry and care for our neighbors.

As word spread, so did the need—and so did our response. In our second year especially, we expanded our partnerships with local grocery stores, community organizations, and the Food Bank of Eastern Oklahoma. Our storage space was reorganized and increased, our volunteer team doubled, and distribution days became more frequent and more structured. What once fit into a single room now fills multiple shelving units, refrigeration units, and carefully organized sections for fresh produce, pantry staples, and household essentials. More importantly, the number of families we serve each month has more than doubled, and we now provide not just emergency food assistance but consistent, dependable support.

This growth has not been accidental; it has been prayerfully guided and generously sustained. God's grace, financial gifts, our generous congregation and neighbors,   and hands-on volunteerism have all played a role. We have seen new leaders emerge, new ministries connect, and new relationships form with the very neighbors we serve.

Over these  years, our food bank has become more than a distribution center—it has become a place of welcome, dignity, and compassion. What started as a small step of faith has grown into a living testimony of what God can do when a church commits itself to loving its community in practical, tangible ways.
